First warehouse party? Good. Everyone on our dance floor had a first one too.
Here is the honest version of what to bring and how the night works, Phoenix
edition.
What to bring
- ID. Age policy varies per event and the door will check.
- Earplugs. The single most underrated item. Real sound systems are loud
up close; high-fidelity plugs keep the mix intact and your ears working for the
next twenty years of shows.
- Water or an empty bottle. This is the desert. Hydrate before, during
and after, especially at outdoor and summer events.
- Cash and card. Door, merch and water runs are easier with both.
- Comfortable shoes. Concrete floors, hours of dancing. Fashion loses
this fight every time.
- A light layer. Desert nights drop cold fast, and warehouse interiors
swing both ways.
- A charged phone. The address drop, your ticket QR and your ride home
all live on it.
What to expect
Expect a crowd that is there for the music. Underground nights run later and
looser than club nights: openers matter, the headliner might play at 2 or 3am, and the
dance floor is the point, not the bar. Sound will be heavier than any club you
have been to; that is the draw.
How to move
- Respect the space. These venues exist because people do not trash
them. Leave no trace, especially outdoors.
- Consent, always. Ask before touching, photographing or filming people.
Read the room with cameras in general.
- Look after each other. If someone looks off, check on them. Water and
a quiet corner fix a lot; do not hesitate to find the crew if someone needs help.
- Pace yourself. It is a long night in a hot state. Eat beforehand,
hydrate, take breaks from the floor.
