New Year's Eve Raves in Phoenix: Decadence, the Underground and the Afters

On New Year's Eve, Phoenix runs two scenes at once. The festival side is Decadence Arizona, two nights of big-room production out at Phoenix Raceway. The underground side is warehouse parties and club nights around the Valley, plus the after-parties that carry the countdown into the morning of January 1. Both are worth doing. Here is how each one works, and how to end up at the one you actually want.

Decadence Arizona: the big one

Decadence Arizona is the state's New Year's festival, presented by Relentless Beats and Global Dance. The 2026 edition runs December 30 and 31 at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, on the far west side of the Valley. It is strictly 18+ with ID required, doors are at 6pm, and the curfew is 3am. It has been a fixture of the Arizona calendar since the festival era our Phoenix rave history covers.

• Buy from the source. Tickets go through the official site, decadencearizona.com. Resale scams circle every big festival; if a deal looks too good, it is.
• Dress for a desert December. A raceway is an outdoor site, and Phoenix nights in late December routinely drop into the 40s after midnight. Layers you can dance in, closed-toe shoes, and a warm layer for the walk out; the what-to-wear guide has the winter doctrine.
• Plan the ride before you leave. Avondale is a long way from Tempe, Mesa and Scottsdale, and at 3am on January 1 every rideshare in the West Valley is spoken for. Sort it out while you still have a signal and a plan.

The underground alternative

Not everyone wants their New Year's to be a festival. The Phoenix underground throws its own New Year's nights, and they are a different animal from the raceway:

• Smaller rooms, deeper lineups. Warehouse and club nights book the sounds the main stages skip: breaks, drum and bass, house, UKG and every flavor of bass music. The genre guide sorts them out.
• Later finishes. Underground nights commonly run until 4 or 5am, so the countdown lands mid-set instead of near the end of the night.
• Closer to home. Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa, not a drive to the edge of the Valley.

After-parties: where the year actually ends

The raceway curfew is 3am. For a lot of the floor, that is not the end of the night, it is the start of the afters. After-parties are a Phoenix New Year's tradition, and they come in two kinds. The ticketed ones get announced publicly and show up on the calendar. The underground ones spread by text list and word of mouth, the same as any afters, and the address goes out shortly before doors. New Year's survival notes

• Buy early. New Year's tickets tier up as the night gets closer, and on the busiest night of the winter the door is where plans die.
• Earplugs. A countdown is the loudest minute of the year. The first-rave guide covers the rest of the kit.
• The ride home is a plan, not a vibe. Holiday DUI task forces are out across the Valley through New Year's, and rideshare surges hard after midnight. Decide how you are getting home before you decide what you are wearing.
• Look after your people. Pick a meeting spot for midnight before the crowd picks one for you, and keep water moving at the same rate you would on any other night.
