"Phoenix" on a flyer usually means the whole Valley. The metro is one long sprawl of cities, and some of the best dance floors are not in Phoenix proper at all. Here is where the rave and EDM nights are in Tempe, Mesa, Scottsdale and Chandler, and how to move between them.
Tempe is the East Valley's club town, and Sunbar is its anchor: a patio bar downstairs and a full club room upstairs a block off Mill Ave, with the busiest bass calendar in the East Valley (dubstep, house, trance, drum and bass, and a steady stream of touring names). Smaller bars around Mill Ave pick up house and local nights, and with ASU next door there is a young crowd out every weekend. Fraktured residents Zaptek and SK*Boog are Tempe DJs.
Mesa's historic downtown carries the Nile Theater, a long-running all-ages room whose basement stage, The Nile Underground, books smaller nights, plus lounges like The Rosetta Room. The Mesa Amphitheatre hosts outdoor bass shows in the cooler months.
Scottsdale leans bottle-service: Old Town clubs run house and open-format nights, Talking Stick Resort books touring electronic acts on its casino stages, and WestWorld's open grounds host some of the Valley's biggest seasonal festivals.
Rawhide in Chandler is festival territory: an event center and open-air grounds that host large Halloween-season EDM events and other big seasonal productions.
Valley Metro light rail links downtown Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa, which makes a Phoenix-Tempe night easy without a car. Check the last train before you go; for late finishes, rideshare is the move, and demand spikes right when the clubs close. Scottsdale and Chandler are drive-or-rideshare. Never drive impaired; the desert highways are not forgiving.
The underground warehouse scene, including Fraktured's own nights, mostly runs in and around Phoenix proper, with the address sent to ticket holders before doors.
